Serendipitys Day Nursery operates from a beautiful converted detached Edwardian town house, situated on London Road in Balderton, Newark.

The nursery has 3 separate rooms for Babies 0-2, Toddlers 2-3 and Pre School 3-5. The ground floor rooms have patio doors leading to a safe, fully enclosed outdoor play area. We also make use of the wider community with walks and trips to local parks and places of interest. Our care is based around the fact that every child is unique and cherished and our warm and caring staff team offer high-quality childcare that is tailored to every child’s individual needs. Routines and activities are planned to ensure that each child achieves their full potential.

Our aim is to give all children the best possible start to their early education. We do this by providing the highest level of care in a warm, loving environment so that they feel safe and secure to seize the opportunities provided for them. Each Room is carefully designed and fully equipped with a broad and thought-provoking range of toys and resources which encourage children to learn through playing, exploration and by making their own little discoveries. We are guided by Ofsted regulations and the requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage.

Serendipitys Balderton brings that ‘home from home’ feel. As a small, homely nursery, the care is personalised and staff are extremely knowledgeable about each child. Children form close relationships with each other and have wonderful opportunities to participate in day-to-day homely domestic activities and learn valuable life-skills.

We are open from 8:00am to 6:00pm (7.15am early starts are available upon request) Monday to Friday, 52 weeks of the year with the exception of all Public Holidays and the afternoon of Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve. Fees are due for 52 weeks including bank holidays although where possible we will endeavour to offer an alternative session.

We operate an ‘always welcome’ policy, so come and have a visit at any time, no appointment necessary.

Fees

We are open Monday to Friday for 52 weeks a year, with the exception of all Bank Holidays and the afternoon of Christmas Eve and New Years Eve (if they fall on a weekday)

Fees are due on the 1st of the month in advance. It is the childcare place and not a child’s attendance that is charged, fees are calculated over 52 weeks.

A late payment fee of 15% of the outstanding balance will be applied to fees not received by the 7th of the month. Non payment or repeated late payment may affect your child’s place.

We do not make any deductions for non attendance due to Bank Holidays, sickness or holidays. However, we do offer an alternative session for bank Holiday and Festive half day closures 2 weeks either side of the date (subject to availability).

9 Month and Two-Year-old Funding
We are registered with the local authority to access 9 month and 2-Year-old Funding and provide Free childcare for eligible children. Both 9 month and 2-year-old funded Free childcare is provided as 30 hours per week term-time Free of Charge (30 hours x 38 weeks = 1140 hours per year) or as 22 hours per week all year round (22 hours x 52 weeks = 1140 hours per year) Free of charge.

For both 9 month and 2-year-old funded children there is a cost for food on funded sessions of £2.00 per half day or £4.00 for a full day, this fee also includes all snacks. All hours outside of the FREE entitlement are charged at a rate of £7.50 per hour. We do not charge any additional fees for consumables such as Sun cream, nappies or wipes on Funded sessions for 9 months and 2-year-olds.

Parents who do not wish to pay for food can attend for half days 8am -1pm, 1pm – 6pm or 9am – 3pm and bring a packed lunch. Please ask for our suitable Packed Lunch Guide.

Three and Four-Year-old Funding for Pre-School Children
Nursery Education Funding for children over the age of 3 is provided by Nottinghamshire County Council. Universal entitlement of 15 hours (570 hours per year) is stretched and offered as 11 hours per week over 52 weeks. The extended entitlement of 30 hours (1140 hours per year) is stretched and offered as 22 hours per week over 52 weeks. We offer a limited number of term-time only places. If your child attends term-time only, they will receive up to 15 or 30 hours per week (term-time), depending on what they attend.

Due to the flexibility of our delivery models, we can offer the full extended entitlement in as little as 2.5 days. There is a charge for consumables, such as nappies and suncream, meals and extra services such as French lessons or Forest Schools. An Additional charge of £7.50 per hour will apply to any sessions which exceed the number of Free hours available.

Free Pre-School
We also offer two options for 100% FREE funded sessions. Eligible children can attend from 9 – 12 or 1 – 4 using 3 hours of funding, or 9 – 3 (parents must supply a Packed Lunch).
