The toddler room are learning all about the Hungry Caterpillar. First of all we opened our caterpillars to see how small they are and tried to make our own using the playdough rolling out the dough and pinching the ends. The children have been feeding the caterpillar's everyday making sure they have the right amount of food. We have been watching them grow each day discussing how heathy they are. Expanding on from the story the toddlers have also been exploring all styles of fruit, they have made their own fruit kebabs and looked at juicy fruit compared to hard fruit. The mango was a favourite and provided a sensory experience for all the children, we then discussed if it was soft and sweet or hard and sour. We are looking for names for our caterpillars, please comment with any suggestions. ... See MoreSee Less

When finding a white feather in the garden preschool were invested in finding the bird it belonged to. We searched high and low, making our own binoculars, creating our own birds nest and bird bath. We have collected twigs, sticks and anything shiny to be placed in our nest. The children operated the hose pipe and worked together to transport the water next to the nest to create the bath.
